Nature Infused Spa and Wellness Trends 2020.

Delve into nature, with the hottest Spa and Wellness Trends for 2020.

In 2019, Google Trend searches revealed that many of us are searching for personal, and immersive experiences to improve our mental health and wellness. In 2019, Google Search Results for Wellness Retreats increased by +182%. Even Meditation Apps saw a surge in results, increasing by a huge +219%. So why has there been such a dramatic increase?

According to a study conducted in 2018, it was reported that three out of four of us often feel ‘overwhelmed’ or ‘unable to cope’ with stress. We now live in a decade of city dwellers, with many millennial’s opting for the fast-paced lifestyle of city living. Because of this, many millennial’s find themselves searching for nature, in fact, they are craving it. And a simple walk in their local park isn’t hitting the spot. Millennial’s are looking for opportunities and experiences which take care of both their body, and mind. This is where nature comes in.

Throughout the course of the modern decade, research has shown the positive impacts of spending time within nature, on both our physical and mental health. It’s not surprising that nature-based wellness practices have grown in popularity over the last year, with many wellness and spa retreats now incorporating this within their programs.

In 2020, Spa and Wellness treatments are set to go further than just being skin deep. So, what are the latest nature infused spa and wellness trends for 2020, and how can your incorporate these within your retreats? At Outback Organics, we have delved deep into the world of nature for you.

Eco Therapy.

Say hello to one of the biggest buzz words for 2020. Eco Therapy. Also known as ‘green therapy’ and ‘nature therapy’, focuses on the human relationship with nature. Supported by mental health charity, Mind, Eco Therapy encourages the practice of mindfulness, and strengthens the human connection with nature.

When recreating this trend, focus on creating deep, immersive experiences for your clients, which aim to have a balancing and calming effects on their physiology. There are so many amazing benefits to Eco Therapy, including the reduction of anxiety, depression and stress. The practice has also been linked to lowering blood pressure and encouraging slow breathing techniques.

Blue Mindfulness

Blue Mindfulness.

This trend is an extension of Eco Therapy. Inspired by the book ‘Blue Mind’ by author, Wallace J. Nichols, Blue Mindfulness focuses on the healing impact that water can have on both the body and soul. Harness the power of water within your spa or wellness retreat, to help soothe and restore calm to your clients. Blue Mindfulness also helps to diminish anxiety, and improve performance.

Forest Bathing Trend

Forest Bathing.

Despite its name, there is no water involved within this trend. Forest Bathing is all about taking time out to slow down and re-connect with nature. The trend has been increasingly popular within Japan and is often recommended as a formed of therapy by specialist GP’s to their patients.

Getting fully absorbed into nature is the most important aspect with this trend and can be practised outside of your spa or wellness retreat, as well as within. As the name suggests, it’s all about ‘bathing’ in nature; lying back, taking it all in and tuning into your surroundings.
