Peelable Wax FAQs
What is peelable wax and how does it work?
Peelable wax is a strip-free formula that sets on the skin and is removed by hand. As it cools, it grips the hair without sticking to the skin, offering a more comfortable treatment – especially on delicate areas. It’s ideal for intimate waxing, facial hair removal, and clients with reactive skin. Our peelable waxes are formulated with advanced polymers that make them flexible, quick to dry and easy to remove cleanly.
Which areas of the body is peelable wax best suited for?
Peelable wax is best for smaller or more sensitive areas such as the bikini line, underarms, face, and intimate zones. The wax sets directly on the skin and is removed without a strip, making it ideal for targeted applications that require extra precision and reduced skin trauma.
Is peelable wax more comfortable for clients?
Yes. Peelable wax adheres to the hair rather than the skin, which helps minimise discomfort. It’s particularly useful for sensitive clients or those prone to irritation after waxing. Because it shrinks around the hair shaft as it sets, it removes even coarse or short hairs efficiently while reducing skin drag.
How long does it take peelable wax to dry?
Most of our peelable waxes dry in around 6 to 10 seconds, depending on the thickness of the application and the temperature of the treatment room. Fast-drying waxes help reduce treatment time while still ensuring clean removal. Our Opal changes colour slightly as it dries, giving a clear visual cue for removal.
How do I know which peelable wax to choose?
Each wax in our peelable range has been developed with different skin types, hair textures and treatment areas in mind. For intimate waxing or sensitive skin, Opal and White are popular choices. Onyx is particularly good for coarse or dark hair and is well-suited for male clients. Jade contains eucalyptus oil to calm the skin and open pores, while Gold offers a fragrance-free option. We recommend reading the product descriptions to find the best fit for your client’s needs.
The wax isn't removing all of the hair; I am having to overlay my wax
Terminal hair:
If the hair is short and stubborn, standard application of removal may not take the hair out. Apply your peelable against the hair growth, removing with the direction of the hair growth using the wiggle technique.
Vellus hair:
Apply your peelable wax against the hair growth, also removing against the hair growth direction, making sure the skin is fully supported.
Are your peelable waxes vegan?
Yes, all of our peelable waxes except Gold are vegan-friendly. They contain no beeswax or animal by-products and are clearly marked for easy identification. Every formula is also cruelty-free and paraben-free.
Do your peelable waxes contain synthetic fragrance?
Some do, and others are fragrance-free. Jade and Onyx have subtle, naturally-inspired scents, such as eucalyptus or citrus notes. White contains lavender, while Gold is completely fragrance-free. We recommend checking the individual product page if you’re treating clients with allergies or fragrance sensitivities.
What is the best temperature for using peelable wax?
Our peelable waxes are designed to be used at low melting points – typically between 52°C and 56°C. The wax should have a consistency similar to thick honey when ready for use. Working from the melted edges of the pot helps maintain the correct texture throughout the treatment.
How economical is peelable wax to use?
Peelable wax is highly economical. Thanks to its smooth, thin application and advanced formulation, it uses up to 40% less product than traditional hot wax. This not only reduces waste but also allows therapists to perform more treatments per bag.
Can peelable wax be used on shaved hair?
Yes, in many cases it can. Our advanced polymer waxes are designed to remove even short, coarse or stubborn hair – including regrowth after shaving. Waxes like Gold and True Blue perform particularly well on short stubble, which makes them ideal for clients transitioning from shaving to waxing.
Which of your waxes would you recommend for eyebrows and the upper lip?
We recommend either our Opal Peelable or Jade Peelable for all facial waxing. Opal Peelable is strip-free, hypoallergenic, and perfect for ultra-sensitive skin. Jade Peelable contains eucalyptus, which helps to soothe the skin and open pores for more gentle hair removal. We would also recommend Onyx Peelable for men’s facial waxing treatments.
Which wax would you recommend for intimate areas?
We recommend our Outback Opal peelable for all intimate waxing. It is strip-free, hypoallergenic, and perfect for ultra-sensitive skin. As an alternative, you can also use Jade Peelable for female intimate waxing.
