A Deep Dive into Botanical Oil

Just what is in Outback Organics products? Let’s have a look at one of our leading products and find out what's in Botanical Oil!

Isopropyl Myristate – A synthetic emollient which is very easily absorbed into the skin, this moisturizing ingredient gives Botanical Oil its ability to remove wax from the skin after treatment, gently dissolving it and wiping it away. It also helps other ingredients to more easily penetrate the skin, carrying the beneficial ingredients with it. It is made with naturally occurring fatty acids.

Dicaprylyl Carbonate – This gives Botanical Oil it’s ‘dry oil’ feel, allowing the product to be quickly absorbed without feeling greasy. Derived from plant-based sources, the oil is non-comedogenic (so doesn’t block pores) and offers lightweight moisturising and conditioning properties.

Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil – Olive oil is deeply conditioning and moisturising due to being rich in Vitamin E and Squalene, but used on it’s own is very heavy for skin, leaving it feeling greasy. Combining it with the two ingredients above enables us to bring the best qualities of olive oil without the residue.

Rosa Moschata (Rosehip) Seed Oil – Rosehips are an incredibly rich source of Vitamin C, an antioxidant to repair damage. It also contains retinoids, linoleic acid and Vitamin F, all ingredients that are beneficial to skin health.

Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernal Oil – Argan Oil has been one of the worst kept beauty secrets of the 21st century. It is exceptionally rich in Vitamin E and contains anti-inflammatory compounds making it very calming on the skin.

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride – It may sound scary, but this liquid is derived from coconut oil and glycerine and is another excellent emollient rich in fatty acids. It improves the spreadability of products, and is considered very gentle on the skin.

Tocopheryl Acetate – A form of Vitamin E

Camelia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract – Well known as a source of antioxidants, green tea is also antimicrobial making it ideal for use before and after waxing. It reduces swelling and redness to calm the skin and reduce irritation.

Backhousia Citriodora (Lemon Myrtle) Leaf Oil – Providing Botanical Oil with its delicate zesty fragrance, Lemon Myrtle is one of Outback Organics core botanical ingredients. It’s antibacterial properties have been used by indigenous Australians for millennia, and it’s also used as a stimulating tonic due to the uplifting fragrance.

Citral – derived from lemon peel, this ingredient is also a part of the scent in Botanical Oil. It is strongly antimicrobial, and is a very large part of the makeup of Lemon Myrtle.

Linalool – another ingredient in perfumes, linalool has a sweet floral scent and is found in many essential oils including coriander and lavender.
